Product Description
The GE Refrigerator Evaporator with Heater - WR87X36103 is an essential part of a refrigerator's cooling system, responsible for absorbing heat from the cabinet interior. As refrigerant flows through its coils, it evaporates, drawing heat out of the fresh food or freezer compartments and transferring it outside, thus keeping food cold and fresh. This component is fundamental for the appliance to maintain its set temperature. Integrated with a heater, this evaporator unit is also vital for the automatic defrost cycle. The heater activates periodically to melt any frost that accumulates on the evaporator coils, preventing ice buildup which could impede airflow and reduce cooling efficiency. A malfunctioning evaporator or heater can lead to poor cooling, excessive frost, or inconsistent temperatures within the refrigerator, compromising food safety and appliance performance.
